At Findon Primary School our priority is the wellbeing of each and every student and this is why we have implemented the SWPBS initiative. School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support is a framework for promoting and explicitly teaching appropriate and positive behaviours, rather than waiting for mis behaviour to occur and then responding.
Promoting positive social behaviour is an important part of any student’s educational experience. At Findon we aim to improving student behaviour by teaching, modelling, and reinforcing a positive school climate by promoting more evidence-based practice to stamp out any negative behaviour, increasing inclusive practices, well-being and mental health supports, creating better relationships between staff, students and the community and preventing and addressing bullying behaviour.
Key Components of SWPBS is a Matrix of positively stated expectations that each classroom has made in consultation with the students. This Matrix represents the expected behaviours within our school, demonstrated by students, staff and the wider community. These expectations become our values that staff explicitly teach within the classroom and the rules we expect the students to follow.
